Biden to Face Pressure to Withdraw from Reelection

President to Hold News Conference

Election Uncertain

WASHINGTON -- President Joe Biden faces a pivotal day as he works to stem the tide of Democrats urging him to bow out of the 2024 presidential race.

A new poll conducted by Ipsos, ABC News, and the Washington Post has found that Biden and former President Donald Trump are nearly tied if the election were held today. The poll, which was conducted from July 7-10, found that Biden has a 48% approval rating, while Trump has a 47% approval rating.

The poll also found that 52% of Americans believe that Biden should not run for reelection in 2024. Only 38% of Americans believe that Biden should run for reelection.

Biden is scheduled to hold a solo press conference on Thursday afternoon to address the poll results and to discuss his plans for the future.

The president's press conference comes as a growing number of Democrats are calling on him to withdraw from the race. Several Democratic lawmakers have publicly stated that they believe Biden is too old to serve a second term. Others have expressed concern about Biden's low approval ratings and his ability to win reelection.
