Swinney Gives Wednesday Injury Update On Woods Brown

Swinney Gives Wednesday Injury Update on Woods, Brown

Woods, Brown Day-to-Day After Tuesday's Practice

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney met with the media on Wednesday to provide an injury update on running backs Will Shipley and Kobe Pace. Both players left Tuesday's practice with injuries, but Swinney said both are day-to-day and could play in Saturday's game against Georgia Tech.

"Will got banged up a little bit yesterday," Swinney said. "He just got kind of stepped on and rolled up on. He's sore today, but he's moving around fine. He'll be day-to-day."

"Kobe just tweaked his ankle a little bit," Swinney said. "He's getting treatment today, and we'll see how he is tomorrow. But he's also day-to-day."

If Shipley and Pace are unable to play on Saturday, Clemson will likely turn to true freshman Demarkcus Bowman to start at running back. Bowman has played in all four games this season and has 11 carries for 42 yards.

"Demarkcus has been getting a lot of reps in practice," Swinney said. "He's a very talented young man, and we're confident in him."

Clemson will need its running game to be at its best on Saturday against Georgia Tech. The Yellow Jackets have the No. 1 rushing defense in the ACC, allowing just 84.8 yards per game.

"Georgia Tech has a very good defense," Swinney said. "They're very physical and they tackle well. We're going to have to be able to run the ball effectively to be successful."

Clemson and Georgia Tech will kick off at 12 p.m. ET on Saturday at Memorial Stadium. The game will be televised on ACC Network.
